Tawnya is a birth mom, as well as a wife and mother to a sweet five-year-old boy. She and her family currently reside in Urbandale, Iowa. Tawnya moved to Urbandale, Iowa about thirteen years ago to get her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and to work as a Registered Nurse. Since the birth of her son, she has been a stay-at-home mother and homeschools part time. Tawnya is also very active on her wooded urban homestead, one acre property. She enjoys gardening, cooking fresh produce, and even sews clothing for children and herself. 

 

Though, Tawnya's story of adoption begins twenty-five years ago when she was also blessed by the birth of her first son. He was placed for adoption at birth with, as she describes, "The most fantastic family." She further explains how the adoptive family has become her extended family and that she has a very close bond with the entire family - Including her birth son. 

 

Tawnya states, "We were all able to stay in contact over the past eighteen years though pictures, videos, as well as through gifts and cards." Tawnya further conveys, "My birth son's parents and I also had contact over the phone and through mail from time to time, and shortly after my birth son turned eighteen, we all reunited... And it was amazing, emotional, fun and most of all, loving." 

 

Tawnya has always felt that her birth son was such a great gift to her, and that he was meant to be shared. And that's what she and her birth son's adoptive parents have all done! Tawnya explains, "We shared him and love him. We are proud of the person he has become, too. All because of a gift of life we were given. Adoption is true love."
